““I’ve been living in Korea for four years and have read many Korean literary works in English. Each time, I felt, ‘Ah, this is a translation.’ But I was surprised by how excellent the English was in these two works published this time. I think it’s at a higher level than the English I use. (Laughs.)””

Brad (real name Bradley Ray Moore, 28, pictured), an American who plays drums in the popular band Busker Busker, turned into a literary critic at a press conference on the “Korean Contemporary Fiction in English Translation” project, held on the 25th at Book Libero, a bookstore in front of Hongik University in Seoul. The publisher Asia invited Brad as a “special guest” when it released English translations of “Chinatown,” a short story by established novelist Oh Jung-hee (65), and “There Is No Hanako,” by Choi Yun (59). “I’ve been living in Korea for four years and have read many Korean literary works in English.
