A note from the person behind NUGUBOOK
For the days when you’re not sure what to read,
You don’t need to arrive here with a book in mind. A familiar name or an interesting cover is enough to begin. I’ve put together a few suggestions to help you follow that first bit of curiosity, at your own pace.
Select a person to see their connected books, or a book to discover the people connected with it. Choose a photo or cover, then read the story and sources beside the book. Follow a source link for the original context. The reading questions here are my suggestions for you, separate from the featured people’s own words.
First, understand the connection.
A recommendation, a mention of reading, and a book appearing on a shelf are different kinds of connection. If a cover caught your eye, read what was happening at the time. Having read a book does not necessarily mean someone liked it, and an old recommendation may not reflect their tastes today.
For a short quotation, follow the original source to read the surrounding conversation. A shared interest—or the wish to meet a different point of view—can give you your own reason to pick up the same book.
Check the edition and the first pages.
Books with the same title may have different translators, publishers, publication dates or contents. Check the author, publisher and ISBN alongside the book, then look at the bookseller’s contents and preview. The displayed edition is not necessarily the edition that the person read.
An English title on NUGUBOOK helps you discover a work; it does not by itself confirm that an English edition is available. Check the language and edition on the bookseller’s page before buying. Try a library copy or preview first if you are unsure whether the book suits you.
A short note to help you choose.
- Write down one topic that made you curious in the person’s story.
- Find where that topic appears in the contents or preview.
- Write one question in your own words before you begin.
- As you read, note a scene that changed your thinking and why.
- Decide whether to keep reading or move on to another book.
You don’t owe every book its last page. It’s fine to set one aside and come back another day, or to find something else. I hope this little guide helps you find a book that feels right for you.
