Operator and contact
NUGUBOOK (누구책, nugubook.com) is a personal website created and run by one individual. This policy explains how information is handled on the site. You can contact the NUGUBOOK operator about privacy or request access, correction or deletion through Send a note. Leave an email address if you would like a reply. The operator may request identity verification only as needed to process your request.
Effective date: September 23, 2026. Last updated: October 20, 2026.
Visit and usage records
To understand service use and areas for improvement, NUGUBOOK records visited pages, visit times, referring website domains, device types, IP-derived countries, time spent actively viewing a page and clicks to bookstores on the site’s server. These records also include opening, scrolling and closing reading content; exploring other connections and returning; whether a search has results; and clearing filters. Visits are distinguished using random identifiers. Names and email addresses are not linked to these statistics. Visit statistics store only the country code from the country lookup, not the original IP address. They do not store search terms, entered content, screen recordings, mouse coordinates or full referring URLs.
Individual visit records are deleted during the next cleanup after they become 90 days old. The browser visit identifier is kept in the tab’s session storage. A new visit begins after at least 30 minutes of inactivity.
Server logs used to investigate connection errors and unusual requests may contain IP addresses, requested URLs, connection times and browser information. Web access logs rotate daily, with 14 previous logs retained. Request rate limits use hashed values rather than storing IP addresses directly.
Cookies, browser storage and language
NUGUBOOK uses session cookies to preserve listing order (nugubook-catalog-browse and nugubook-remarks-shuffle), session storage to distinguish visits (nugu_visit), and local storage to remember the light or dark theme (nugubook-theme). The default theme is dark. A theme preference remains until you change it or clear the site’s browser data.
K-pop pages use kr.nugubook.com/kpop for Korean and en.nugubook.com/kpop for English. Visiting nugubook.com or nugubook.com/kpop selects Korean for a connection IP address identified as South Korean, and English otherwise, including when the country cannot be determined. A Korean or English subdomain always keeps that language. You can switch languages through the More menu.
The language in the subdomain determines the page language; a previous language cookie does not override it or the country selection at the main domain. Bookstore options follow the selected page language: Korean pages offer YES24; English pages offer a verified English edition on Amazon when available, with the Korean edition on YES24 as an alternative. The country lookup takes place on the site’s server without sending your IP address to an external lookup service. Likes and measurement preferences are separate.
You can inspect, delete or restrict cookies and site data through browser settings. Restricting storage may prevent listing order and display preferences from being retained. Operator login uses authentication cookies separate from ordinary visitors’ listing cookies.
Google sign-in, conversations and your bookshelf
Everyone can read comments on a story without signing in. Google sign-in is requested when you choose to write or reply, or manage your profile, liked books and comments in Your space. The Google sign-in tool loads only after you choose to sign in. Google provides basic identity information; NUGUBOOK verifies it and stores a one-way keyed identifier, a book-inspired default nickname (which you can change), and your Google profile photo URL. The photo is refreshed when you sign in and displayed with your nickname on comments. Your Google email address and name are not stored or displayed. The photo loads from Google’s image servers. The site does not request Gmail, Drive, contacts or advertising access.
Your profile photo, public nickname, comment or reply, attached photos or GIF, and posting and editing times are visible to other visitors. Please do not include contact details or sensitive personal information. Comment accounts, files and API endpoints are operated independently for NUGUBOOK. They are not connected to another service’s member database.
The nugu_community_session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. A separate nugu_community_challenge cookie is valid for up to ten minutes to protect the sign-in request. These cookies support writing and managing comments and accessing your private bookshelf. Sign out from the top-right account menu or your profile to end the current session. You can remove your own comments and attachments, or use Account to delete your account, comments and account-linked book likes. Deleted text and attachment records are removed; an empty thread marker may remain to preserve replies written by other people.
Photos are checked and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata such as location. GIF files are checked and re-encoded while preserving their animation. Unposted attachments become inaccessible after 24 hours and are removed during a subsequent upload or cleanup. Published comments and files remain until you or the operator delete them; there is no automatic publication expiry. Request limits use keyed identifiers rather than storing raw IP addresses in the comment database. Google processes sign-in data under its Privacy Policy.
Your private bookshelf
When signed in, book likes are associated with a keyed NUGUBOOK account identifier, the selected book and the time it was liked. This lets you view and change the same private collection on other devices after signing in. The collection and its association with your account are not public; only the combined like total is public. Person likes continue to use the browser identifier.
Earlier anonymous book likes are not moved automatically. Choosing “Add to my bookshelf” transfers the current browser’s public book likes to your account. A book already liked by that account is kept once, so duplicate public likes are combined. Other visitors’ likes and person likes are unaffected. You can remove an account book like from a book’s heart or your bookshelf. Account likes remain until you remove them or delete the account; clearing browser cookies does not delete them.
Notes and likes
You can like a book or person without signing in. The selected item, a hash of a random browser identifier and the selection time are stored on the site’s server. Selecting the same item again removes that like. A cookie named nugu_like_viewer, valid for up to one year, remembers your selections. Anonymous likes are not linked to a name, email address or another service’s account, and these selections are not shared across browsers or devices. If you delete this cookie, you cannot restore or cancel earlier selections from that browser. Contact the operator if you need likes still stored on the server to be deleted.
When you send a note, the site stores your message, any name and email address you optionally provide, and its receipt and review times. Only the operator can access this information to review and answer inquiries. It is stored separately from the public catalog and visit statistics. You can send a note without providing a name or email address.
Notes currently have no automatic deletion period. They are retained until the operator removes them or processes a deletion request. Please do not include unnecessary sensitive information such as national identification numbers or passwords. To request deletion, provide only the minimum information needed to identify the note.
The separate “I love books” appreciation feature records a cumulative count and random request identifiers with timestamps to distinguish duplicate submissions. It does not require a name or email address.
Google Analytics and promotion measurement
Google Analytics 4 loads only if you consent to analytics. It sends public page views, person and book detail views, bookstore clicks, device and browser information, and campaign referral information to Google to analyze service use and promotion performance. A bookstore click does not establish a completed purchase or revenue.
Google measurement events do not include search terms; note names, email addresses or message content; operator screen content; full referring URLs; or full affiliate bookstore URLs. Page addresses contain only public paths and permitted campaign parameters (UTM), and referring addresses contain only the external domain. Google advertising click identifiers may be used if you separately consent to ad performance measurement. NUGUBOOK does not enable Google signals, personalized advertising signals or user-provided data collection in this measurement configuration.
Your analytics and advertising measurement choices are kept in local storage (nugubook-measurement-consent) for 180 days. After analytics consent, Google measurement cookies such as _ga are configured for a maximum of 180 days. Advertising click cookies may be used if you consent to ad performance measurement. You can decline or change your choice through “Analytics & ad measurement” in the More menu. Reducing or withdrawing consent deletes measurement cookies and reloads the page to stop running measurement tools. You can still use NUGUBOOK if you decline. The site’s own visit statistics are a separate process described under Visit and usage records above.
GA4 user and event data retention is set to two months, without resetting retention on new activity. Standard reports based on aggregated statistics are not subject to this retention period. Google may process measurement data on infrastructure that includes servers outside South Korea. See how Google uses information from partner sites and the Google Privacy Policy for its processing and retention practices.
Google advertising and your choices
NUGUBOOK has connected the site to Google AdSense and requested review. The site currently has no ad-display scripts or banners. The ownership-verification tag and ads.txt file do not create advertising cookies. The analytics and ad performance measurement described above are separate from displaying ads on the site.
If Google advertising is enabled later, Google and third-party advertising providers may use cookies to show ads based on previous visits to this and other sites. Information collected and used by Google and its partners is described in Google’s partner-site information and the Google Privacy Policy.
You can manage personalized advertising at Google My Ad Center. Third-party provider preferences can also be managed through the industry advertising choices tool. When advertising and consent features are enabled, the site will provide the consent, refusal and preference controls required for the regions served.
External sites and information protection
Source and bookstore links take you to external sites, where their privacy policies apply. The content of your notes and your email address are not appended to those links.
NUGUBOOK uses Amazon Web Services in the Seoul, South Korea region to operate its server. Site connections use HTTPS, and access to notes and operator screens requires authentication. If the handling of personal information changes, the operator updates this page and its effective or revision date.
