“Sometimes my self-esteem hits rock bottom and I feel my sense of self wavering. People around me say you need a hobby to relieve stress, but I still haven’t found one. So whenever I’m having a hard time, I read books like “Look at This Poem” and “Even So, I Love You.” I’m not very good at reading long texts, so I mainly read books with lots of pictures and the words I want to hear.”

“한 번씩 자존감이 바닥을 치고, 자아가 흔들릴 때가 있어요. 취미생활이라도 있어야 스트레스를 푼다고 주변에서 그러지만 아직 취미를 찾지 못했어요. 그래서 힘들 때마다 ‘이 시 봐라’와 ‘그래도 너를 사랑한단다’ 같은 책을 읽어요. 긴 글을 잘 읽지는 못해서, 그림이 많고 제가 듣고 싶은 말들이 있는 책을 주로 봐요.”

“Someone recommended a book called Look at This Poem to me.”

Jeong Chaeyeon continued, “I thought about it. I was supposed to do a book-reading broadcast, and I wondered what book I should read that people would enjoy and find healing in.” She said, “I looked at books in a bookstore, but all the poems were so difficult. It was so hard to think about the meaning of every single character in poems I’d read while studying Korean,” and added, “I was recommended a book called ‘Look at This Poem.’” She read part of the book aloud and shared with her fans why she liked it.

“‘이 시 봐라’라는 책을 추천 받았다”

이어 정채연은 “고민했다. 책 읽는 방송을 해야 하는데, 어떤 책을 읽어야 재미있어 하고 힐링할 수 있을까 고민했다”고 말했다. 그는 “서점에서 책을 봤는데 시가 다 어렵더라. 국어 공부할 때 읽었던 시, 한 글자 한 글자의 뜻을 생각하려니 너무 어렵더라”며 “‘이 시 봐라’라는 책을 추천 받았다”며 책 일부를 읽어주고 자신의 마음에 드는 이유까지 팬들과 공유했다.
