Changmin of the group 2AM expressed his condolences after hearing that webtoon artist Cho Su-jin (32), famous by the nickname “Obangtteok Girl,” had died. On the afternoon of the 7th, Changmin wrote on his Twitter, “A few days ago, I took that book out and read it again. It’s still on my desk,” and added, “Thank you—not just as much as you loved me, but even more. Rest in peace.” Cho passed away in the early hours of the 5th after her condition worsened while she was being treated for lymphatic cancer. After graduating from a science high school and Seoul National University, Cho joined a major company. At the young age of 27, she received the devastating diagnosis of stage-three lymphatic cancer and thereafter continued a difficult course of treatment. She began attracting attention by serializing accounts of her treatment under the pen name “Obangtteok Girl” in the Daum Cafe “People Fighting Cancer.” The webtoon was also published as two books, and Cho’s story was featured on television.
