Artist recommendation: Music Isn’t Everything in Life, Though, written by Bae Soon-tak, Kim Young-sa. Ever since I was young, I’ve really enjoyed getting a glimpse into how other people think. When I followed their thoughts, before I knew it, I’d find myself curious about their lives. That’s why I loved music so much. Listening to a song that lasted just over three minutes, I found the musician’s life and little stories tucked inside it, like entries in a diary, so fascinating. Maybe I love music so much because I’m curious about the stories of the people who made it, even more than I am about the music itself. The days I spent talking all night with friends, drawing on music and the thoughts behind it, made up my childhood. After closing the last page of this book, I feel as though a friend who used to tell me stories about music all night when I was young is right beside me. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to whisper to their present-day self about a time they truly miss and long for.
