What books mean to me

“At first, I watched a lot of lectures on YouTube. I thought that if I learned from the ideas and know-how of famous instructors or professors, I could build more expertise in my profession and have better days. That made me feel I needed to learn more deeply, so although I haven’t read much yet, I’m trying to read books.”

Original quotation

ReadNew

“It felt new to imagine the personalities and ways of speaking of the characters in the book.”

What aspects of reading have been helpful? Heeseung: There’s a book called *About a Wicked Woman*, in which several people talk about one person who has died. It felt new to imagine the personalities and ways of speaking of the characters in the book. I think it may have helped with music, too. When you write lyrics or create something, you can’t do it from a blank slate. It gives you ideas to imagine, like, “I should try expressing this like this.” Rather than saying, “I like you,” saying, “I like you more than I like getting off work at 10,” makes it easy to picture, doesn’t it?
