“이윤석 원장님의 레슨도 받고 책도 함께 읽으면서 발성 변화를 느낄 때마다 들었던 생각은 내가 여태껏 발성을 너무 복잡하고 어렵게 이해하고 있었구나 하는 것이었다. 배에 힘을 줘라, 소리를 뒤로 보내듯 불러라, 소리를 띄워라 등등 발성을 배울 때 가장 혼란스러웠던 것 중 하나가 추상적인 표현들이다. 나 역시 그랬었다. 틀린 표현은 아니지만, 처음 발성을 접하는 상황에서는 이게 무슨 말이지? 하는 생각과 함께 혼란이 올 수밖에 없는 것 같다. 원장님의 수업을 듣고 나서 가장 크게 와닿았던 건 제일 자연스러운 상태에서 노래하는 것이었다. 소리를 너무 꾸며서 내려고 하지 말고 긴장되지 않은 상태에서 가장 편하게 소리 내기. 사람의 생김새는 다 다르기 때문에 내기 편한 소리, 편한 발음은 다를 수 있지만 결국 소리가 나오는 길은 다 같고, 그 길에서 어떻게 노래하느냐에 따라 그 사람의 색깔이 생기는 것 같다. 책에서도 가장 강조되는 부분이기에 가장 편한 상태에서 소리 내라는 것을 꼭 명심했으면 좋겠다. 소리는 내가 만들어 내는 게 아니라 가장 편안한 상태일 때 자연스럽게 나온다는 걸 느끼게 해준 책이며, 가장 심플하게 그 설명을 담아놓은 책인 것 같다. 목소리를 내는 직업에 종사하는 사람이라면 꼭 한번 읽어보고 더 편한 소리를 찾았으면 한다. 이 책을 읽는 모든 이들이 best가 아닌 only one의 소리를 찾길 바라며!”
